One of the more interesting and unique early ANV battle flags was that carried by the 8th Virginia Infantry. The original flag was made from silk (legend says it was dress silk, but could also very have been from the stock of flag silk being used by the RCB in 1861-early 62), and was made by the wife of P.G.T. Beauregard following the Battle of Ball's Bluff. The 8th carried this flag until sometime after the Battle of Antietam, and it is believed the battle honors in the red fields were added sometime after that. The flag is single-side printed and will come with a cotton sleeve with brass grommets.
