Perhaps one of the most iconic, and difficult to produce, items of the Union Civil War soldier was the uniform, or frock, coat. Loved by commanders, and decried as "sweatboxes" by the soldiers, a good quailty uniform coat can really set the living historian apart.
Our Schuylkill Arsenal uniform coat is made from a high quailty wool broadcloth body, with black linen chest lining that is backed with cotton batting and cotton drill. All visible stitching (and thousands of invisible stitches) is done by hand, and the coat features tailored corded buttonholes.
NEW OPTION: You can now opt to have your coat trimmed in wool cording for an additional $45.
Because of the complexity of this garment, and the number of measurements required to esnure a proper fit, after ordering your coat we will email you very shortly afterward to gather all the correct measurements needed.
Note:
Note:
To ensure a proper fit, we request that you get accurate measurements using a tape measure or the strip of cloth and yardstick method detail on the FAQ page. Without an accurate measurement, we cannot ensure that your garment will fit they way it is intended to.
If you are taller than 5'9", please let us know that you will need a longer length jacket.
For sizes larger than 48, there is an additional $35 added to the item.
